Vintage Girl - Tutorial on Faux Linen and Emerging Colour

Vintage Girl

Here's a tutorial I have put together to show you how to combine a few techniques to make a Vintage Picture/Scrapbook Page or Card.

Step1: Soak your crocheted flowers and twill tape in a bowl of coffee. Remove and let them dry. If you're in a hurry, use a heat gun to dry them (Don't get it too close to your embellishments).

Step 2: For the FAUX LINEN look, get a piece of White Glossy Cardstock and sandpaper it both ways - horizontally and vertically.

Step 3: Print out a photo or an image from your computer onto the cardstock.

Here's a close up of the image with the faux linen look. I downloaded this free image from the Graphics Fairy.

Step 4: Mask the image with a cut out and place the Wheel Guide over it ready to roll the 'Very Vintage' Wheel stamp over the top.

Step 5: Using a cartridge filled with a few drops of Sahara Sand Ink Refill, roll the wheel stamp across the masked picture.

Step 6: Repeat as many times as necessary to cover the area you require and remove the masking from the picture.

Step 7: Using a blender pen and some ink from a refill or from your stamp pad, colour in some of the images on the background stamp.

When I did this step I was thinking about making a large focal picture for a scrapbook page. However, half way through the process I decided I would put it in a frame instead, so unfortunately all my coloured images turned out to be 'hidden', making this step unnecessary! Oh well!

Step 8: Stamp images from 'Vintage Vogue' using Always Artichoke Ink.

Step 9: Rub the surface with an embossing buddy.

Step 10: Stamp the Baroque Background Stamp over your image using Versa Mark.

Step 11: Cover the stamped area with Clear Embossing Powder and shake off excess powder.

Step 12: Emboss with the Heat Tool until clear image emerges.

Step 13: Sponge over the image using a wedge of Stamping Sponge and Sahara Sand Ink to complete the EMERGING COLOUR technique.

Step 14: Buff off the ink from the embossed area with a tissue.

Step 15: Cover a chipboard frame (non-SU) with Bella Rose DSP using Tombow Glue.

Step 16: Place your image behind the frame and secure the backing chipboard and stand with Sticky Strip.

Step 17: Embellish your image with some cute accessories. For more details on this part of the process, please look at the accompanying post, here.

It was a bit of a long process but worth it in the end because I was happy with the result. It looks much prettier in real life! Let me know if you try something similar. I'd love to see what you come up with.

Happy crafting,
Bron
