Double Butterfly Flip Card Video Tutorial

Hi there.  I'm just a little bit excited today as I have my very first video tutorial to share with you!  Yep ... I talk in this one but I was extremely nervous at the thought of being recorded.  I'm also waiting on an extended tripod for my iPhone so I can record from a bird's eye view rather than from the side of my craft desk.  All I can say is, I have my 'L' plates on and can only improve with practice :).  I would value some feedback, so if you can offer me any video tips and tricks, feel free to leave a comment or flick me an email.

I've just had two weeks of mid-term break; Tassie is in the middle of a cold snap at the moment so I have had lots of time to get ready for today's blog hop and have three new projects to share with you. WARNING:  This post has lots of photos so I hope you have a good internet connection :)

1.  Double Butterfly Flip Card

2.  Golden Butterfly Curvy Keepsake Box

Thanks to Erica Cerwin (Pink Buckaroo Designs) there are lots of Butterfly Curvy Keepsake gift boxes fluttering around the internet and this is my version based on today's featured stamp set.

Card Stock:  Very Vanilla, Gold Glimmer Paper

Ink:  Mint Macaron

Accessories:  Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits, Bold Butterfly Framelits, Butterflies Thinlits Dies, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Gold Sequin Trim, Gold Glitter, Crystal Effects, Pretty Petals DSP Stack

3.  Cupcake Stand

My last project is something I have wanted to make for a long time.  I saw something similar made from the retired Beautiful Butterfly Bigz Die many moons ago and this is my take on it using current SU products.

INSTRUCTIONS -
1.  Stamp four butterflies, score each one through the middle and glue the wings together in a 'round'.
2.  Punch out a piece of card stock (Pool Party) with the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch and glue a Gold Metallic Foil Doily over the top.  The card stock underneath the doily makes the base nice and firm to hold the cupcake.
3.  Place a glue dot at the top of each wing and secure the doily base on top.

 Mmmm ... yum!  Strawberry, Chocolate or Vanilla?

   

Or maybe for a tea light?

Floral Wings Butterfly Flip Card and a Video Tutorial on How to Stamp a Mottled Brick Wall Background

Hi there.  Welcome to addINKtive designs.  Today I made the most of the last day of my holiday break; I spent some time making a card and a short technique video to share with you.  I love it when a good plan all works out and you can tick a few things off your 'to do' list, however, it may be midnight before I head off to bed :)

I needed to make a Sympathy Card, wanted to try out a new card fold, ink up a new stamp set, try out a fun technique, improve my editing skills in iMovie and use some challenges for inspiration.  Phew!  It was a long list.

As the saying goes, "Everything old is new again"!  I decided to recreate my 'old' Butterfly Easel Card (which was made from the now retired Beautiful Butterflies Dies), using current Stampin' Up! products.

Awesomely Artistic Slider Card

Just in case you hadn't noticed, The Gold Trend is very popular in paper craft at the moment and Just Us Girls' Challenge this week is to "incorporate gold somewhere on your card and/or project".  I jumped right in as I have wanted to see what Gold Glitter mixed with Crystal Effects would look like painted onto an image with a fine brush (I have done this technique with Dazzling Diamonds before). All I can say is, I love the way it turned out; so sparkly!

  

As you can see this is a slider card and the base was made at the Interactive Card Class I went to last week that two of my down line ran.  Jo demonstrated this technique and would you believe that this is the first time I have made a card like this!  Crazy, right? ... considering it's like an easel card :)  I didn't stay late to finish it as I wanted to use a more girly stamp set and make a thank you card for a friend; I was itching to ink up Awesomely Artistic after seeing so many beautiful projects made with this stamp set.

 

I've just started making short videos to demonstrate my interactive cards as photos don't do them justice.  Please forgive the fact that this is only the second clip I have posted and have only just discovered iMovie.  I am warming up to the idea of making video tutorials as Splitcoast Stampers have asked me to make one for them. This has been a bit of a challenge and a steep learning curve for me ... so be sure to watch this space!
