The Stamp Review Crew - Botanical Blooms

Hi there. To kick off the month of August, The Stamp Review Crew are back for another blog hop. This round we are featuring the stamp set, Botanical Blooms.

Botanical Blooms Photopolymer Stamp Set

For my first project I created some miniature succulents using the stamps and coordinating dies -

1.  Miniature Succulents

On our recent trip to Deloraine I purchased these very cute, miniature, clay pots with the idea in mind to make some paper succulents for this hop.  They are now on display in my craft room and every time I look at them they make me smile, mainly because I know these 'plants' won't die on me and also because I love this hobby obsession of mine and never tire of discovering the versatility of our SU products!

Speaking of versatility, every time I finish a packet of Glue Dots I wonder what I will make from the left over cardboard reels. After seeing a cute bird cage on Pinterest recently, I decided to put my thoughts into action. Mmmm ... I think I need the Best Birds Bundle now.  Anyway, here's my bird cage filled with Botanical Blooms -

I have written a tutorial for this and it will feature in my first post on my new blog!  Yep ... addINKtive designs now has a new home.  I have been working behind the scenes to create a more professional look to my website. I must admit that it has been a steep learning curve but I have enjoyed the challenge and am very excited about how it is all coming together.  It has now gone LIVE!

CASEing the Catty #87 - Artistic Expressions

Hi there and welcome to our Sunday night blog hop for CASEing the Catty.  This week the crew are CASEing projects from the Artistic Expressions Section of the annual Stampin' Up! catalogue - pages 92 - 157.

The Design Team exclusively use SU products for their CTC projects. We CASE (copy and share everything) or use a sketch/layout, colour combo, embellishment, to name a few examples, as a springboard for our own creations.

For my project this week I took inspiration from page 148, The Fruit Stand Suite -

The little crate gift box is absolutely adorable.  I've seen lots of cute replicas on Pinterest and about three weeks ago I decided to tweak the design a little and turn it into a card - a Fresh Fruit in a Crate Card and tonight I'm sharing a slightly different version and a mini tutorial.

CTC #87 - Fresh Fruit in a Crate Card #2

Mini Tutorial -

1.  From Kraft Card Stock cut out the following pieces -

A - Card Inserts 1-1/2" x 3-15/16" (x 3).  Score 1/2" in from both ends of all three pieces.
B - Side Pieces - 2-1/2" (H) x 2-3/4" (W) (x 2)
C - Front and Back Sections - 1" x 4" (x 4).  Score 1/2" in from both ends of all four pieces.

2.  With Tear and Tape Adhesive, adhere front and back crate pieces to the two side pieces as shown in the photo below -

3.  Handy Hint:  Punch out a Classic Label from a scrap of card stock and position into place on both side pieces with a dab of glue BEFORE punching out the crate 'handles'.

4.  Line up the punched piece with your Classic Label Punch.  Punch and repeat on the other side so handles are even.

5.  Adhere the back two pieces to the other side piece of the crate to form the base of the card.

6.  Attach all three card inserts just below the punched handles on either side of the crate making sure the side flaps on the left side are turned towards the back of the card and the side flaps on the right face towards the front.  This allows for a smoother swing mechanism and a flatter fold when placing the card in an envelope.

7.  Fold two doilies in half and glue one to the front and one to the back of the crate.

8.  Cut out two, 2" squares from the Fruit Stand DSP, fold diagonally in half and glue into place over the doilies.

9.  Cut out a few images of fruit from the Fruit Stand DSP and attach to the inserts with Glue Dots.

   

10.  Stamp a sentiment from the Fresh Fruit Stamp Set with Peekaboo Peach Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and attach to the front of the card.

Card folds flat and fits inside a standard, card size (C6) envelope.

Everyday Occasions

For my project this week, I took inspiration from a card on page 69; specifically the ribbon and banner detail.  Seeing I had lots of stamped die cuts left over from the last planter box card I made, I decided to use those (I don't own the Bunch of Blossoms stamps and matching punch ... yet ... lol) and go with the matching colour palette from the 'scraps'. 

 

CTC #86 - Everyday Occasions

There's about a dozen of the crew joining the hop this week and I'm really looking forward to seeing all the different project ideas.  Although I think our hops should come with a warning that reads something like this - "Beware ... if you continue on with the CTC Blog Hop, your Wish List may grow substantially long and your credit card may go into meltdown".  Well ... it's usually the case with me ... I have put in a personal order just about every week since the new catty release! Wow! There's just so much inspiration in the catty, especially in the section that we are focusing on this round.  It was hard to decide on just one project; just as well we get to re-visit this section later in the month.
