Planter Box Card Class

Hi there!  Last night I held a Planter Box Card Class for a small group of ladies.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and even though the project appeared quite daunting, my guests were surprised at how easy this 3D card was to make.

I made sure I took some photos of the finished creations to share with you -

1.  Playful Palette Planter Box Card

 2.  In Colours Planter Box Card

 3.  Pink and a Pop of Pumpkin Pie Planter Box Card

Stampin' Up! In Colours Planter Box Card

Only two more sleeps until the new Stampin' Up! Catalogue goes live and that means a brand new palette of In Colours to create with.

I'm holding a Planter Box Card Class and mini catty launch this Thursday night with a small group of ladies, so naturally I chose to play with the new In Colours.

The base was constructed from Kraft Card Stock and stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp (Soft Suede Ink).  All other accessories are listed below this post in the Labels Section.

Here's a round up of the Planter Box Cards I have made so far (Yes, I am a tad obsessed) -

A Tutorial for an Oriental Card in a Box and a Give Away

Happy New Year!   This post is just to let you know about my new tutorial that I have for sale -  The five page PDF file contains detailed instructions and photos on how you can make this Oriental Card in a Box which is made from Stampin' Up!'s ® Gift Card Envelope Thinlits, SU stamps, punches and other dies. All the measurements are in inches.

To celebrate the New Year anyone that puts a Stampin' Up! order in through my on-line store in the month of January, will receive my tutorial for FREE (Aussie residents only).

There's a couple of sneak peeks to some brand new items heading our way on the 5th January - Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum Stack (Free SAB item) and Cups and Kettle Framelits Dies (Occasions Catty 2016).

I really love how it folds flat for posting but easily opens up to form an elaborate 3D card.  It's now on it's way to my sister for her birthday (with a gift card inside).

If you would like to purchase the instructions just click on the tab at the top of my blog - My Tutorials for Sale.

Happy crafting for 2016!

An Oriental Themed Card in a Box for My Sister's Birthday

Hi there.  Welcome to my blog.  Today I'm entering a challenge over at Seize the Birthday. They always have an 'anything goes' challenge for birthdays in general or you can choose to go along with a 'topping', which this week is to use the colours, red and white.

I've spent a few sessions over the last 3 days putting this card together for my sister's birthday which is on January 1st.  I always think it's pretty cool that every year the whole world waits up for her birthday to happen!

My sister's town house has an oriental theme and all her decor is in red, white, black and silver.  She doesn't understand why I spend so long making cards as they only get 'thrown away' (gasp!) and she always tells me I should put my energy into making home decor pieces or practical items that last.  Well, I have made sure this one won't end up in the bin (I hope) as I have made a card/home decor piece/gift card holder all in one!

Stampin' Up! enthusiasts might be interested in knowing that the card is actually constructed from the Gift Card Envelope Die and there's a couple of sneak peeks to some brand new items heading our way on the 5th January - Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum Stack (Free SAB item) and Cups and Kettle Framelits Dies (Occasions Catty 2016).  I will provide more details in another post when my tutorial is complete.
Folds flat for posting.

Red and White

This is the first time that I have played along at Seize the Birthday!

I'm also linking up at Just Add Ink as they have a Gift Card Theme for challenge #293; the back of my card in the box has a Gift Card Envelope attached as my sister is getting a gift card for one of her favourite clothing stores.

Spring Planter Box Card

Hi there and welcome to addINKtive designs. Today I have a Planter Box Card to share with you.  After a bit of a craft 'slump' three challenges finally got me motivated and back into my craft room ... so a big thank you to all the DT members for their inspiration.

This card is similar to the one that I made for mum for Mother's Day but I changed the measurements slightly so it's a little shorter and have included a mini tutorial at the end of this post if you would like to make one too.

1.  Colour Challenge - Global Design Project #005

The colour challenge at the Global Design Project is just perfect for spring and I really, really love the combo!  I have included some Kraft Card Stock as a neutral for the construction of the planter box.

 2.  SUO Challenge - #132 Punch It Up

The second challenge that I have entered is at SU Only where the theme is to feature PUNCHES.  Here's my list of Stampin' Up! punches that I have used for my Spring Planter Box Card -
  • Pansy
  • Petite Petals
  • Bird Builder (Leaves)
  • Washi Label

3.  Theme Challenge - #17 Stamp Ink Paper - Floral

I'm excited to finally join in with a challenge at Stamp Ink Paper where the theme is FLORAL!

Mini Tutorial

1.  Cut two pieces of Kraft Card Stock, 2-1/2" x 6" (Score at 3") and four pieces, 3-1/2" x 1" (Score at 1/2" on the short side) and stamp the Harwood Stamp onto each piece with Crumb Cake Ink.

2.   Attach the legs to each corner of the base with Fast Fuse Adhesive.
3.  Cut three card inserts measuring 2"x 4" and score 1/2" from each end of the longer sides to make the flaps that secure to the inside sides of the planter box.
4.  Attach the punched flowers, leaves and other embellishments to the inserts with foam dots (Stampin' Dimensionals) and Multi-purpose Liquid Glue.

5.  The card will fold flat to fit inside a custom made envelope.  However, I've decided not to give this one away and use it to brighten up the desk in my office instead.
