Pop-Up, Z-Fold, Card in a Box

Hi there.  I've been eying off some great examples of Z-fold, pop-up cards on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to make one.  I tweaked the basic design a little by adding some inserts; the ones you use in card-in-a-box style cards.  So I've called my take on this fun fold, a Pop-Up, Z-Fold, Card in a Box! - It's a crate full of summer strawberries with some home-made strawberry jam sitting on the kitchen bench.

Summer Strawberries

This card was made for a dear friend's birthday and I'm also entering it into two card challenges -

Thanks for stopping by,
Please note that this is the original card for this type of fold. I came up with the idea of adding the card inserts to a z-fold. A very similar card (with cherries) appeared as a cutting file a few days after this post was published! Now there are kits and copies galore out there. Thank you for supporting this small business owner by purchasing the original tutorial. I appreciate it very much. Please note that you can now find me at www.addinktivedesigns.com

PS:  A TUTORIAL (PDF) is now available to purchase for $3.50 (AUD).  Copies may be printed out for stamp classes etc. Measurements in inches.

Trend Week at Just Us Girls - Sequins

I just love a splattering of sequins on a card and this week at Just Us Girls the theme is to use them somewhere on your project.  Gold and Blushing Bride Sequin Trim were used on this set of cards that I made for some of the 'Leavers' at school.

I spotted a card on Pinterest that used the stamp from I Think You're Great as a background to the Beautiful Butterfly Die and loved the idea (Jenny Hayward).  Each of the background stamps on my cards were sponged with a colour duo and every one features a different embossed background.

 (Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant)

(Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo)

(Wild Wasabi and Mossy Meadow)

(Fluttering, Honeycomb and Elegant Dots Embossing Folders)

Be sure to hop on over to the Just Us Girls Challenge Site and check out the sequined cards.  It's the last challenge for the year before they go on a short break.

Spring Planter Box Card

Hi there and welcome to addINKtive designs. Today I have a Planter Box Card to share with you.  After a bit of a craft 'slump' three challenges finally got me motivated and back into my craft room ... so a big thank you to all the DT members for their inspiration.

This card is similar to the one that I made for mum for Mother's Day but I changed the measurements slightly so it's a little shorter and have included a mini tutorial at the end of this post if you would like to make one too.

1.  Colour Challenge - Global Design Project #005

The colour challenge at the Global Design Project is just perfect for spring and I really, really love the combo!  I have included some Kraft Card Stock as a neutral for the construction of the planter box.

 2.  SUO Challenge - #132 Punch It Up

The second challenge that I have entered is at SU Only where the theme is to feature PUNCHES.  Here's my list of Stampin' Up! punches that I have used for my Spring Planter Box Card -
  • Pansy
  • Petite Petals
  • Bird Builder (Leaves)
  • Washi Label

3.  Theme Challenge - #17 Stamp Ink Paper - Floral

I'm excited to finally join in with a challenge at Stamp Ink Paper where the theme is FLORAL!

Mini Tutorial

1.  Cut two pieces of Kraft Card Stock, 2-1/2" x 6" (Score at 3") and four pieces, 3-1/2" x 1" (Score at 1/2" on the short side) and stamp the Harwood Stamp onto each piece with Crumb Cake Ink.

2.   Attach the legs to each corner of the base with Fast Fuse Adhesive.
3.  Cut three card inserts measuring 2"x 4" and score 1/2" from each end of the longer sides to make the flaps that secure to the inside sides of the planter box.
4.  Attach the punched flowers, leaves and other embellishments to the inserts with foam dots (Stampin' Dimensionals) and Multi-purpose Liquid Glue.

5.  The card will fold flat to fit inside a custom made envelope.  However, I've decided not to give this one away and use it to brighten up the desk in my office instead.
