Butterfly Sympathy and a Card for a Friend

Hi there.  It's been a while since I have had the opportunity to make some cards as life has been a little hectic lately.  I needed a sympathy card for a friend of mine who recently lost her mum and decided to CASE a design that I discovered through Pinterest.

You can view Brandy's Cards Tutorial on You Tube - Butterfly Basics, 10 cards in 20 minutes.

I love Brandy's design but made a few subtle changes and chose one of my Colour Tree colour combinations.

The next card is a CASE of the above using a different stamp set, Awesomely Artistic and another one of my Colour Tree colour palettes.

Thanks for stopping by,

CASE-ing the Catty Challenge #8 - Card Giving

Here's my card for CTC 8, better late than never.  I do have a good excuse - hubby took me away for my birthday this week. We enjoyed a bit of R & R with magnificent beach views and beautiful spring weather. It was just what I needed after a hectic time at work.

At CASE-ing the Catty we are looking at the Card Giving section from the Annual Stampin' Up! ® Catalogue this week.  I was in need of a sympathy card so this is what I put together -

It's CASED from a card on page 120 of the catty -

I kept the colour scheme (Smoky Slate and Old Olive) and the layout the same, just changed the stamps as my friend's dad loved to watch the birds in his garden.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you can join us at CTC for the card giving theme this week.

Get Well Soon

I made this Get Well Card for a friend who is in hospital.  She can't have real flowers at the moment as she is still recovering in ICU, so a bouquet of paper flowers was the next best thing!  I hope it brightens her day.

I used the beautiful colour combination from the Color Throwdown as it had 3 gorgeous new SU Colours in the palette - yum.

The idea for the doily as wrapping for the flowers came from a card I spotted on Pinterest but never 'pinned' - duh!  Anyway, I was pretty happy to spend a little time in my craft room today to actually make a card.

Project Recipe:
Stamp Sets:  Flower Shop, Papillon Potpourri, Thoughts and Prayers
Ink:  Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Strawberry Slush, Rich Razzleberry
Card Stock:  Whisper White
Accessories:  In Colour (2013 -2015) DSP, Brights RR DSP (retired), Basic Pearls, Tea Lace Paper Doily, RR Polka Dot Ribbon (retired), Bird Builder, Bitty Butterfly and Pansy Punches, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Dynamic Duos #1

DD #1
A Card for Kathy

I am super excited to share with you my first card as a DT Dynamo for the brand new challenge site, Dynamic Duos.

It's the first challenge of the month so we've started the ball rolling with a bold and sassy, bright and happy duo. The colour combo is brought to us by Sharla of This Thing Called Life who won the DD Facebook Competition with her colour choice of lime and aqua.

On a more personal note, while I was making this card, I received a text from a good friend telling me she had pneumonia and asking if I'd pray for her, hence the added sentiment.  I'm trusting that Kathy will make a speedy recovery, get plenty of rest ;) and the card will help bring a smile to her face.

My inspiration for this card comes from Kittie Caracciolo of Kittie Kraft. She is so talented when it comes to floral punch art and her gorgeous window scenes have lead me to add quite a few new punches and dies to my collection :)

A Helpful Hint:  To add a few more shades of blue and green, I have sponged some of the leaves, flowers, birds and bird cage with either LL or PP.  For example, the bird cage is cut from PP card stock and then sponged with LL. The brick wall was lightly sponged with white ink using a dauber.

Project Recipe:
Stamp Set:  Thoughts and Prayers (SU)
Ink:  Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, StazOn White (SU)
Card Stock:  White, Whisper White (textured), Pool Party (smooth and textured), Lucky Limeade
Accessories:  poppystamps dies - Grand Madison Window, Grand Flower Box, Vintage Bird Cage, Fuchsia Sprig
Martha Stewart Punches - Frond, Branch, Birds on a Wire
SU - Everyday Enchantment DSP, Basic Pearls, Stamping Sponge and Dauber, Modern Label Punch
Other - Sizzix Embossing Folder, Bricked (Tim Holtz), Fiskars Flower Punch, Foam Dots

Be sure to check out the other Dynamos for some added inspiration -

PS:  Thank you to the ladies in the General Stamping Forum at Splitcoast Stampers who named this as one of the Favourites for the Week ending 6th May.

I hope many of you are inspired to play along with our first challenge.  Happy crafting!
