My Tutorial Shop has a New Home

Hi there.  I’ve been pretty quiet lately and not a lot of crafting going on as there’s a fair bit of work that goes on behind the scenes when you start-up a new website.  It’s exciting making the change from blogspot to WordPress and I’ve learned heaps; there’s just so many more options to make blogging more fun and interactive.

One big change that will particularly make my Northern Hemisphere subscribers very happy is the launch of my new Tutorial Shop.  You won’t have to wait for me to email your  tutorials as most purchases are made while I’m fast asleep.  Yay! for the switch to instant downloads. Plus, my FREE tutorials can be downloaded without the need to make an actual purchase.

I want to especially thank everyone that has bought a tutorial from me and has taken the time to flick me an email to share their creations and provide some feedback.  I really appreciate it and love to see the variety of ideas inspired from my tutorials.  Here’s a recent testimonial from Cathi D –

Hi Bronwyn!  I just want to let you know how much I enjoyed your tutorial – the instructions and pictures make it very easy to follow!  I have attached my creation.  Since I didn’t have the DSP, I had to improvise with the Botanical Gardens DSP and making my own crate with the Hardwood Background stamp.  This card is for a friend who  loves butterflies and sunflowers so I had to add those two things to the card! ”  Cathi

Wow!  Isn’t Cathi’s card gorgeous?   I love the addition of the sunflowers.

Here’s a round-up of the cards that I have made using a pop-up, z-fold box card construction with inserts -

Gift from the Garden

 Live, Love, Grow

 Thoughtful Branches
(Tutorial for Pop-Up, Z-Fold Box Card with Picket Fence is in my new Tutorials For Sale page on my new blog, addinktivedesigns.com)

Here’s one I made based on a standard z-fold construction (no inserts) –

 Salty Kisses

As you can see from the above projects, the ideas for this type of card fold are limitless!  Make sure you subscribe to addINKtive design’s new home so you don’t miss a post!

Live, Love, Grow

Oh my goodness, when I saw the Live, Love, Grow stamp set with all the cute succulent images and terrarium in the new Stampin' Up! annual catalogue, I almost squealed out loud! I couldn't wait to create a miniature scene and combine my latest craze, the Z-fold, in order to make it 3D.

It was actually a lot of fun to work out the colour combos of the succulents which I will list further down in my post but this design does come with a warning - lots of time needed for two-step stamping and fussy cutting all the images!  I was so involved in 'building the scene' that time got away from me last night and the next thing I knew it was 2:30 am.  Just as well I'm on a holiday break and had a nice sleep in this morning :)

My lovely friend, De Arn (and member of my team) was the one that clinched the positioning of the 'glass' terrarium as I thought far right would be the best spot; that was until I discovered I liked the addition of card-in-a-box style inserts for this fold to create a more 3D, pop-up element.

It's always good to get away for a weekend.  Hubby and I regularly escape and find somewhere relaxing to unwind from our busy and often stressful jobs (he's a Medical Scientist and I'm a School Principal). When I venture out I'm always seeing inspiration everywhere that I can take back to my craft room (another good place to get 'lost in').  Here's a photo of the view from The Trig at Lilydale where we stayed back in early autumn.  It had lots of cute pots of succulents on the verandah, inside the quirky style of accommodation and on the outdoor setting (pictured).  At the time I was tempted to buy some stamps with images of succulents from another company but I was so pleased that I waited to see what the new catty would bring and it certainly did not disappoint!

So ... the inspiration for this card came from a weekend away in the country and 'kudos' to the design artists at Stampin' Up! who came up with this gorgeous stamp set -

A Gift from the Garden - Pop-Up, Z-Fold, Card in a Box

Am I enjoying my holiday break or what?!  I have just discovered my favourite fancy fold ever and have called it a Pop-Up, Z-Fold, Card in a Box (basically a Z-fold with inserts).

1.  Stampin' Royalty have a Fancy Folds Challenge this week so I thought I would play along.  The DT have some amazing examples of fancy folds on their challenge site which I will definitely need to return to and explore a little further :)

 Thanks!

2.  Another challenge blog that I love to support is SUO Challenges; this week their challenge is titled, Delight in Nature.  I get a real buzz out of inking up the Gift from the Garden stamp set and creating little nature scenes and when you team it up with the gorgeous Serene Scenery DSP, it is a match made in 'heaven'.
