Cut it Out!

Hi there!  Welcome to addINKtive designs. Today I am sharing a card that I made using the soon to be released, Thoughtful Branches Bundle.

TGIF Challenges #65 is all about cutting!  Fussy cutting or die cutting, they don't care, they just want to see you - Cut. It. Out.

Well I can testify that this little creation required a lot of cutting with dies, paper snips, a punch and a paper cutter!  It took me a few hours to make in between doing a few loads of weekend laundry!  You have to have some incentive to get the housework done, right?

Here's some Project Details -

• Card Base - Pool Party Card Stock (basic Z-fold with inserts)
• Background clouds - Serene Scenery DSP Paper Stack
• Fence - Hardwood Stamp stamped on Smoky Slate Card Stock with Crumb Cake Ink; posts punched out with the Classic Label Punch (bottom point snipped off)
• Front Tree - Trunk - Chocolate Chip Ink and Card Stock, Branches - die cut from CC Card Stock, Leaves - Wild Wasabi Ink and Card Stock, die cut
• Flowers - Wild Wasabi Ink and Card Stock, Crushed Curry Ink on So Saffron Card Stock, die cut stems, fussy cut flowers with pearls
• Birds - Rose Red, Island Indigo and Crumb Cake Ink
• Sentiment - Basic Black
• Rolling Hills - Garden Green Ink and Card Stock 
• Trees - Tall Pine - Garden Green and Early Espresso Ink, Trio - Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede Ink on Whisper White Card Stock
• Lavender -  Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz Ink on WW Card Stock

CASEing the Catty #87 - Artistic Expressions

Hi there and welcome to our Sunday night blog hop for CASEing the Catty.  This week the crew are CASEing projects from the Artistic Expressions Section of the annual Stampin' Up! catalogue - pages 92 - 157.

The Design Team exclusively use SU products for their CTC projects. We CASE (copy and share everything) or use a sketch/layout, colour combo, embellishment, to name a few examples, as a springboard for our own creations.

For my project this week I took inspiration from page 148, The Fruit Stand Suite -

The little crate gift box is absolutely adorable.  I've seen lots of cute replicas on Pinterest and about three weeks ago I decided to tweak the design a little and turn it into a card - a Fresh Fruit in a Crate Card and tonight I'm sharing a slightly different version and a mini tutorial.

CTC #87 - Fresh Fruit in a Crate Card #2

Mini Tutorial -

1.  From Kraft Card Stock cut out the following pieces -

A - Card Inserts 1-1/2" x 3-15/16" (x 3).  Score 1/2" in from both ends of all three pieces.
B - Side Pieces - 2-1/2" (H) x 2-3/4" (W) (x 2)
C - Front and Back Sections - 1" x 4" (x 4).  Score 1/2" in from both ends of all four pieces.

2.  With Tear and Tape Adhesive, adhere front and back crate pieces to the two side pieces as shown in the photo below -

3.  Handy Hint:  Punch out a Classic Label from a scrap of card stock and position into place on both side pieces with a dab of glue BEFORE punching out the crate 'handles'.

4.  Line up the punched piece with your Classic Label Punch.  Punch and repeat on the other side so handles are even.

5.  Adhere the back two pieces to the other side piece of the crate to form the base of the card.

6.  Attach all three card inserts just below the punched handles on either side of the crate making sure the side flaps on the left side are turned towards the back of the card and the side flaps on the right face towards the front.  This allows for a smoother swing mechanism and a flatter fold when placing the card in an envelope.

7.  Fold two doilies in half and glue one to the front and one to the back of the crate.

8.  Cut out two, 2" squares from the Fruit Stand DSP, fold diagonally in half and glue into place over the doilies.

9.  Cut out a few images of fruit from the Fruit Stand DSP and attach to the inserts with Glue Dots.

   

10.  Stamp a sentiment from the Fresh Fruit Stamp Set with Peekaboo Peach Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and attach to the front of the card.

Card folds flat and fits inside a standard, card size (C6) envelope.

Live, Love, Grow

Oh my goodness, when I saw the Live, Love, Grow stamp set with all the cute succulent images and terrarium in the new Stampin' Up! annual catalogue, I almost squealed out loud! I couldn't wait to create a miniature scene and combine my latest craze,the Z-fold, in order to make it 3D.

It was actually a lot of fun to work out the colour combos of the succulents which I will list further down in my post but this design does come with a warning - lots of time needed for two-step stamping and fussy cutting all the images!  I was so involved in 'building the scene' that time got away from me last night and the next thing I knew it was 2:30 am.  Just as well I'm on a holiday break and had a nice sleep in this morning :)

My lovely friend, De Arn (and member of my team) was the one that clinched the positioning of the 'glass' terrarium as I thought far right would be the best spot; that was until I discovered I liked the addition of card-in-a-box style inserts for this fold to create a more 3D, pop-up element.

 

It's always good to get away for a weekend.  Hubby and I regularly escape and find somewhere relaxing to unwind from our busy and often stressful jobs (he's a Medical Scientist and I'm a School Principal). When I venture out I'm always seeing inspiration everywhere that I can take back to my craft room (another good place to get 'lost in').  Here's a photo of the view from The Trig at Lilydale where we stayed back in early autumn.  It had lots of cute pots of succulents on the verandah, inside the quirky style of accommodation and on the outdoor setting (pictured).  At the time I was tempted to buy some stamps with images of succulents from another company but I was so pleased that I waited to see what the new catty would bring and it certainly did not disappoint!

 

So ... the inspiration for this card came from a weekend away in the country and 'kudos' to the design artists at Stampin' Up! who came up with this gorgeous stamp set -
