Here's my 'spin' on the latest sketch challenge at Card Patterns . I made a different style of spinner card using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits. Beautiful Wings Spinner Card This Week's Sketch at Card Patterns The semi-circle part for the sketch is achieved with the linen thread being used as a 'divider'. Here's the inside of the card - the part where you write all the 'mushy' stuff. It can lay flat ready to pop in the post. A Better View How to Make this Spinner card - 1. Score your card right through the middle from top to bottom. 2. Cut a circle in the middle of the card through both the front and back. 3. Cut two layers for each butterfly and attach together (sticky strip) with the linen thread through the middle. Thread on some beads if you wish. 4. Secure the thread tightly inside the card with sticky strip just slightly left of the score line and glue the left sides together (front and back). 5. Embellish using DSP and ribbon etc...

Birthday Rose This is the second birthday card I made today and I loved the fact that it was quick and easy to make thanks to a great sketch from Card Patterns . This card was made for the Helping Hudson Colour Challenge Week 2 and I have also combined it with this week's sketch from Card Patterns (#76). I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to be a Guest Designer for Card Patterns this week. Here's my take on Sketch 45. It involved masking, brayering, sponging, stamping and heat embossing, so I got to play around with a few different techniques, as well as a great sketch. Card Patterns Sketch 45 So, you're probably wondering what an Aussie girl is doing making a Christmas card with a Winter theme. A girl can dream can't she? Here's the Sketch I just loved the idea of snowflakes being embossed onto vellum. I was inspired by a fellow Tasmanian's Christmas Cards that she recently featured on her blog. My lovely hubby spoiled me with a very cute silver bead for my Chamilia bracelet as well as a dozen red roses delivered to work! ... no not for winning this card challenge, but for our 25th Wedding Anniversary! There's a real sweet reason to make this card today and it comes in the form of a dear lady called Betty! More about that story at the end of the post. The second reason is that I love doing Makeesha's challenges and she has put out a colour challenge for this week. I got to use the last of some Real Red card stock from my original stash, break open the 'Taken with Teal' Stampin' Pad and use its accompanying card stock for the first time! Not to mention that I also got to use some retired DSP that I was wondering if I'd ever get to use again. So, as you can tell, this one got me out of my 'comfort zone' and got my mind ticking over at full speed. It's a shame I don't have a housework fairy who does the washing, cook the tea and write my school reports! The third reason is that I got to have a go at a sketch challenge from 'Card Patterns' that I have wanted to participate in for a while. So I've combined two challenges for the firs...
