CASE-ing the Catty Challenge #16 - New DSP

This week at CASE-ing the Catty we are taking inspiration from the Sale-a-bration Catalogue and using some new SAB DSP or new to you, SU Designer Series Paper on our projects.

There's some gorgeous new Specialty DSP in the SAB Catty called Irresistibly Yours and it can be yours for FREE with a $90 (AUD) SU order.  "This white paper with a glossy white pattern is perfect for colouring using a variety of techniques - colouring reveals the pattern".  I LOVE the stuff and have used sponge daubers with ink to create the ombre background for my card.

I was inspired by the beautiful card on page 14 of the SAB Catty which uses the Irresistibly Yours DSP and the spritzing method -

Method for CTC 16 -
I started off applying Marina Mist ink with a sponge dauber, followed by Pool Party then Soft Sky, blending the colours from dark to light from top to bottom of the card.  The bird images are stamped in Basic Black and the leaves in Night of Navy (World of Dreams Stamp Set).  The moon is a just a white punched circle and the nest is made from Linen Thread and Basic Pearls.  The text was stamped on a strip of vellum with Black Stazon and attached with vellum tape (non-SU).  To finish off my card, I rounded off the top right corner with the PL Corner Rounder Punch.

Why don't you join us at CTC this week and use some new DSP on your project.

Butterfly Basics Easel Card

These holidays are whizzing by and I've hardly had a chance to venture into my craft room.  It has been a busy time with two trips away and visitors.  Today was the day to get my craft 'fix' and it was a very productive afternoon.

One of the cards that I made was a butterfly easel card using the largest die from the Butterfly Basics Bundle.  The base of the card was 'fussy cut' after tracing around the outline of the die with a pencil.  It was worth the extra effort as it turned out better than I anticipated.

Project Recipe:
Stamp Set:  Butterfly Basics
Card Stock:  Coastal Cabana
Ink:  Coastal Cabana, Basic Black
Accessories: Basic Rhinestones, Sponge Dauber, Best Year Ever DSP (SAB), Butterflies Thinlits Dies, Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Dots, Dots and More Dots for SUO #114 and a Tutorial for a Valentine Card with a Decorative Heart Fold

Hi there.  If you have checked out my previous post for The Stamp Review Crew and was wondering how I made the first 'heart' card that was featured, here's a little photo tutorial for you.  I've also decided to enter this card in the latest challenge at SUO as the theme is Dots, Dots and More Dots.
Project Recipe:
Stamp Set: @SoSocial
Ink:  Strawberry Slush
Card Stock:  Note Card from Hip, Hip Hooray Card Kit
Accessories:  2013-15 In Colour DSP, Sweetheart Punch, Bitty Banner Framelits, Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Basic Rhinestones, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Strip
Mini Tutorial for @SoSocial Heart Card -
SUO #114 - Dots, Dots and More Dots

 1.  Glue Tea Lace Paper Doily to the side front of the card.
2.  Punch out a Sweetheart from Strawberry Slush Card Stock and score down the middle.  Attach to the front of the card as illustrated and then fold and attach the second half of the heart to the inside.  Add embellishments to the front of the card.
 3.  Punch out several hearts (about 10 or 11) from DSP and score down the middle of each.  Glue one side of the DSP heart to the front card stock heart and continue to layer the DSP folded hearts on top of each other (alternate pattern).  Add a piece of Sticky Strip to the last folded heart but don't remove the red tape as the recipient will stick the heart down in place to form the decorative heart fold.
4.  To mail the card, fan out the hearts half way and slide into an envelope.
5.  Once the card has been received the recipient will need to stick down the last heart to the inside of the card to form the 'fan'.
That's all there is to it. Thanks for stopping by.

My Debut on The Stamp Review Crew - Valentine Free For All

Hi there and welcome to addINKtive designs. I'm excited to share some Valentine projects in my first blog hop with The Stamp Review Crew

About Us -
We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators who want to show you how much you can do with one stamp set. We will feature one stamp set with each blog hop, and each stop on the hop will show you a different idea using that set!

However, this time around we have a Valentine theme with no particular stamp set.  It's FREE FOR ALL!
As I don't own any actual Valentine stamp sets I have decided to show you a few projects that can be made with other Stampin' Up! ® stamps.  Their versatility is the reason why I bought them in the first place.  Enjoy!

Butterfly Basics for Colour Q

Hi there.  I'm really lovin' the holiday break as I am finally getting a chance to play with a few new goodies and join in with a challenge or two.

I'm doing a bit of a catch up on cards and this one's for my mum.  I had the idea for a card design so went looking for a colour combo and decided on the palette at Colour Q.

Here's a mini tutorial I put together -

1.  Cut out two Darling Doilies (Whisper White)

2.  Fold over a section at the top of the back doily and adhere to the top of the front doily.

3.   Cut out a circle (sixth largest circle thinlit) and cut a small section from the top for the inside of the Doily Card.
4.  Stamp an image and sentiment (Butterfly Basics - Crumb Cake, Basic Black) on the inside piece before adhering to the card.

5.  Attach a ribbon (Crumbcake Taffeta) across the centre front and through the holes in the doily pattern.

6.  Cut another circle (6th largest) from Rich Razzleberry Card Stock and a smaller Whisper White circle (5th largest) for the front of the card.  Stamp background images (Butterfly Basics - Crumb Cake, Old Olive) onto the front circle and then emboss (Perfect Polka Dots)

7.  Cut out a butterfly (Butterflies Thinlits Dies - Calypso Coral ) and adhere to the front section.

8.  Add some Basic Pearls to the butterfly which have been coloured with a Blendabilities (Rich Razzleberry).

Butterfly Basics Doily Card

Here's a quick and easy card that I made using the new Butterfly Basics and co-ordinating butterfly die from the NEW Occasions Catalogue.

It is CASED from a set of Doily Cards that I made nearly three years ago which have been doing the rounds on Pinterest lately. The butterfly die that I used back then is very similar to the dies that Stampin' Up! ® have just released, so I thought it would be a good idea to copy one of the original cards using SUO products.

I have used some new SALE-A-BRATION DSP called Best Year Ever which you can choose for FREE with a $90 purchase of SU products between now and the end of March.

You can download all three of the current Stampin' Up! ® Catalogues from my side bar or visit my on-line store to purchase some goodies for yourself and take advantage of FREE SAB products.  Better yet, if you join SU during SALE-A-BRATION you get two amazing options to choose from -

• Option #1: Receive a FREE Simply Created Project Kit from the occasions catalogue with your Starter Kit. • Option #2: Receive 2 FREE Sale-A-Bration items of your choice with your Starter Kit.

This really is the best time of the Stampin' Up! ® year!

Everything Old is New Again

The Paper Players have a great theme challenge this week, "Everything Old is New Again" - simply create a project using a recycled or repurposed item.

I made a card and a matching Curvy Keepsake box from the envelope packaging that held my Vintage Calendar that I recently bought.

Calendar Envelope Front and Back

Curvy Keepsake Box Front and Back

Vintage Caravan Card

It was great to finally get back into my craft room today after a two month break.
Thanks for stopping by,
PS:  Thanks, Nance and the DT at The Paper Players for this award -
