JAI 162 and SUO 69 - Shaving Cream Technique and Anything Sizzix

Image
Hi!  Welcome back to the pre-MDS 'me'.  It's been over 2 months since I've entered a challenge and  also made a card with real ink and stamps!  I'm on holidays and had a whole afternoon today to get 'inky'. Yay! The girls at Just Add Ink inspired me to call into the supermarket on my way home from work on Friday, to purchase a can of shaving cream/foam.  I've really wanted to try out the marbling technique using re-inkers and the fore mentioned 'product' for absolutely ages.  The JAI Challenge Blog have a great challenge to, 'Just Add a Technique You've Never Tried Before!'   So I did. The majority of my cards involve using the Big Shot so I've 'double dipped' and entered my cards in the SUO Challenge to use 'Anything Sizzix'. I had fun and messed up my craft desk again! #1   JAI - Shaving Foam Marbling Technique (NQN and Old Olive) SUO - Anything Sizzix - Little Leaves Sizzlits, Ovals Collect...

MDS - Flock Together

Image
I apologise ...  as I have another card using MDS to show you.  I'll go back to 'real' stamps and ink very soon because in my humble opinion there's nothing that can replace 'inky fingers' and a messy craft desk :) Here's a card in the shape of a bird cage.  I downloaded the Flock Together Brush Stamp Set and had a play at making another shaped card.  MDS - Flock Together (Colours - Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black)  All I added after printing and cutting out the design was s single rhinestone at the top of the card.  I tried using black ribbon but it didn't quite look right.  Maybe for a tag? If you want to know how to make a shaped card using, My Digital Studio , I have written a tutorial in my previous post. Workshop Make 'n' Takes for SAB and the New Seasonal Catalogue

Image
On Friday night I held my first proper workshop since re-joining SU.  It was more like a stamp class as all the participants got to make two cards to take home with them.  I wanted to feature items from the new Seasonal Catalogue, SALE-A-BRATION and the current Ideas Book and Catalogue.  This is what I came up with -   Make 'n' Take # 1 - Just Because (14/3/13 - I've linked this card to the latest challenge at still addINKtive ) Guests could choose to do an alternative colour scheme to the one pictured above - Primrose Petals Core'dinations card Stock embossed with the Fancy Brocade embossing folder and a Pool Party Decorative Label behind the sentiment.   Make 'n' Take # 2 - Friends This one was a lot quicker to make and both designs got the tick of approval from all the guests.  Inspiration for the second card came from page 13 of the Seasonal Catalogue.   Project Recipe by Catalogue - IB&C:  Stamp Set - Flock Togeth...

Still addINKtive Challenges # 2 - Sketch and Colour

Image
s.a. # 2 It's time for another Sketch and Colour Challenge at still addINKtive.   A different 'twist' to our challenges is that you can use both parts of the challenge or you can choose either our sketch or the colour combo to get you started.  It's entirely up to you! The sketch this week is for a square card or project featuring an image in the centre square.  I've chosen some bright summery colours, Tempting Turquoise and  Summer Starfruit to team up with one of my all time favourite colours, Chocolate Chip.   I hope you will hop on over to our challenge blog, check out the beautiful cards by the rest of the DT and be inspired to play along with us this week. Here's the sketch and colour combo - s.a. # 2 I made a Desk Top Calendar Box and used a step by step downloadable tutorial by Connie Babbert from Inkspired Treasures. Here's My Project Recipe: Stamp Sets:  Tea Shoppe, Flock Together Card Stock:  Whis...
