Hi there!  Thanks for visiting addINKtive designs.   I have quite a different window card to share with you today and it was made to highlight the new Colour Tree Challenge for this week.   #TCTC5    A pair of jeans and matching necklace were the inspiration for this week's challenge colours at The Colour Tree -        For this sympathy card I created a window using the single rose die from the Rose Garden Thinlits, attached the navy rose to the inside of the card and then added the larger yellow rose and leaf die cut to the front.  The gorgeous Swallowtail butterfly was stamped on the background panel, along with the small flower stamp from Rose Wonder . The front sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder and a little die cut butterfly from the new SAB Wildflower Fields DSP was added to complete the challenge colour palette . Here's my card for CTC 8, better late than never.  I do have a good excuse - hubby took me away for my birthday this week. We enjoyed a bit of R & R with magnificent beach views and beautiful spring weather. It was just what I needed after a hectic time at work. At CASE-ing the Catty we are looking at the Card Giving section from the Annual Stampin' Up! ® Catalogue this week.  I was in need of a sympathy card so this is what I put together - It's CASED from a card on page 120 of the catty - I kept the colour scheme (Smoky Slate and Old Olive) and the layout the same, just changed the stamps as my friend's dad loved to watch the birds in his garden. With Sympathy (JAI 143 - Colour Challenge) I needed to make a sympathy card for a friend who's mother passed away at the grand old age of 100 years + 3 days.  She and her hubby went all the way to the USA for the big birthday party but ended up spending most of the time at her mother's bed side, in intensive care, on that special day. ................................................................................. I  already had an idea for a very CAS layout for a sympathy card but I needed some colour inspiration.  I saw the combo at Just Add Ink and thought, why not? Delys has given us a great inspiration photo for our 89th challenge at Just Add Ink . Here's what I was inspired to create - I wish I could say that I created the gorgeous background with my trusty brayer and inks but I 'cheated' and stamped over the top of a photo. It's a photo of a beautiful sunrise at Swansea, on the East Coast of Tasmania, with a stamp from Just Believe stamped over the top in Basic Black Ink. I did a series of similar cards a while back using different silhouette stamps which you can see HERE . The Inspiration So ... the challenge is to make a paper craft project using the above photo for inspiration. I hope you can join in with the fun and link up your own entry over at Just Add Ink . BIRTHDAY WISHES - It's my brother's birthday tomorrow and I'm 101% certain he never reads my blog, so I'm pretty safe posting this here a day early! He rides a motor bike so I thought I should ink up my Motorcycle Stamp from the Autumn/Winter Catalogue and team it up with Extreme Elements to use on his Birthday card. Happy Birthday Andrew I find male cards really tricky to make so I went hunting for inspiration and came across this great card by Jo Eades which was hanging on my card tree (JAI Swap). Problem solved! Isn't it just awesome? SYMPATHY - On a totally different subject ... this card was made for the family of my friend who recently passed away. No ... I'm not talking about how I like my coffee (It's actually white with none 'cause I'm sweet enough ;) ... but rather the latest challenge at Just Add Ink . Mae has chosen the colour combo for this week and it is white with a colour of your choice . I chose the new In-Colour, Island Indigo and teamed it up with Confetti White. JAI 84 - Forever Young This card was actually made for a close friend who recently lost her grandmother. It is slightly different to the easel cards that I usually make as it is not cut on the fold using a die cut. The first butterfly was actually placed on the tree to cover up a mistake and then more were added to 'finish it off'. I liked the idea of framing the girl on the swing to 'capture a moment in time'. It never started off as a Sympathy Card but the more it evolved, the more appropriate it seemed to be. Just Add Ink Challenge #35 - Just Add Sympathy This week at Just Add Ink , the challenge is to make a Sympathy Card/Project. It's certainly not a 'fun' thing to do but the satisfaction comes from being able to pass on a little comfort to someone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. I must admit I never usually make Sympathy Cards in advance as I usually make one especially for the recipient. However, I rose to the challenge in more ways than one. The other challenge for me involved using the brayer - a little piece of equipment that hadn't seen daylight for awhile. However, I was highly motivated after Rochelle's Workshop Wow to brayer the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder and run it through the Big shot for a fabulous background effect. I used Night of Navy Ink on Sahara Sand Cardstock. Then I took Delys' advice on her tutorial and started brayering the background for the stamped image, starting on the scratch paper - good tip! Sketch 100 Clean and Simple Stamping are celebrating their 100th sketch with a blog hop so be sure to hop on over and check it out! I've seen people use their sketches for months now but this is the first time I have!! After browsing through all of them on their blog the other day, I can't work out why it has taken me so long. A few days back I posted a photo using this technique . Here are the rest of the cards I made. I simply found some photos of sunrise/sunsets from our personal collection and stamped silhouette images over the top with Basic Black ink. It's a very effective technique that I found in a recent card making magazine. I think they would make great Sympathy cards or for general use. I purposefully didn't put sentiments on most of them because I thought it spoiled the images. My hubby took these magnificent photos. Have an awesome day!!
