CASology 161 - PLAID

Image
Hi there and welcome to addINKtive designs . Today I'm sharing a card that I demoed for a small group of grade 9/10 students. Every Wednesday I take a 'study' group; it consists of a handful of students that have chosen not to do Automotive or Sport's Leaders as one of their electives. I try and mix it up each week and do a variety of activities.  Their English teacher had asked if I could get them to make some Thank You Cards for guest speakers and other visitors etc. He didn't have to 'twist my arm' to get me to bring my favourite hobby into the classroom. The brief was to keep the cards fairly clean and simple, (CAS) and I provided a limited amount of stamps, punches and ink and a large supply of washi tape (I had a bit of a thing about washi back in 2012 and have quite a collection hoard). Here's one card that I ' demoed ' -   I had the latest CASology Challenge in mind when I chose to use this PLAID fabric washi that was in my...

De Arn's Gift Boxes

Image
Hi there.  My blog has been 'hijacked' by a good friend who also happens to be in my Stampin' Up! ® team.  De Arn asked if she could enter her gorgeous boxes into ' CASE-ing the Catty Challenges ' .  She doesn't have a blog or on-line gallery so she's popped in here to show us her latest projects. The box on the left was made with the Envelope Punch Board and the gift bag on the right is e-cut from one of the 'Cool Like That' Giftable Templates.  Inspired by a box from page 10 of the SU Catty. (Top middle) Inspired by the Cool Like That Gift Bags on page 10. Thanks for playing along at CASE-ing the Catty , De Arn :)

A Card in a Box from H2

Image
I love going to the mail box and finding some happy mail instead of the usual bills and department store catalogues.  Check out what was in my mail yesterday (big grin) - H2 Designs         I loved having a catch up time with Lynne and Helen on the weekend.  Thanks so much ladies for a great afternoon - the chats, the Tim Tams, the carrot cake ... I'm one spoilt girl, don't you think?

Sharnee's Owl Card/Gift Bag

Image
I received a lot of beautiful birthday cards last week but there was one in particular that I wanted to share with you.  Isn't this cute owl card/gift bag that I received from my up-line, Sharnee Torrents , absolutely adorable?  I love, love, love the colour combo and the cuteness factor scores a ten out of ten in my book!  Thanks, Sharnee, for the happy mail. It brought a huge smile to my dial.

So Much Variety from One Make 'n' Take

Image
I went and did a workshop last night after my first week back at work - phew!  Fortunately for me, the hostess just lived down the road and I already had kits cut from last week's workshop.  I had run out of paper doilies which I had used in the original design, so adjusted the make 'n' take and used the largest doily from the Delicate Doilies Sizzlits instead. This card was the closest to the original design and it was the Guest's first ever hand made card that she had created - This one was made by the Hostess - I just loved the variety of designs that all the Guests came up with -        Apologies for the 'photogrpahy' as these were taken on my iPhone at night time. Thanks for stopping by,

Rita's Coffee Cup Card

Image
I've been amazed at how popular 'my' Coffee Cup Tutorial has been and it is lovely to receive some emails from happy customers. I say 'my' but I had a lot of help from my friend Lynne and once normal programming resumes in my busy schedule, I hope to get some more lessons from the 'guru' of all things digital. I wanted to share a photo that Rita Looney sent me of her take on the coffee cup card.  She made it  for a "dear friend with a brain tumour who has a passionate love for Zaraffa's Coffee, so she is getting her own 'cup' for her birthday". Rita doesn't have a blog so was more than happy for me to share her creativity with you. It's pretty cute, don't you think? I just wanted to clarify that my tutorial is not a cutting file and you don't need any sort of 'machine' to make it - just a computer attached to a printer and a pair of scissors and some glue :) If you have Make the Cut software, my f...

Birthday Cards

Image
Just thought I'd use this post to say a huge big thank you to everyone that sent me a birthday card, greeting, pressie etc.  I certainly appreciated all the lovely cards that I received.   As this blog is mostly dedicated to hand made cards, I've decided to share some that were made by friends who share my passion for paper craft and stamping.  Most of these girls are from Just Add Ink and you can check out the talent over at their challenge blog.   A month has flown by already but if you check out my September posts you will understand why it has taken me so long to get around to sharing these beautiful cards.  I'm still feeling quite relaxed and operating in 'Fiji Time'. So ... the big ... 5 0 has come and gone.  Hopefully, by the time I turn 60, I'll be - retired ... or re-fired as they say a grandma a seasoned traveller an avid crafter with a bit more time on by hands to potter in my craft room :) ...

Marie's Circle Butterfly Easel Card

Image
A lovely lady by the name of Marie Hopkins emailed me a few weeks back and sent me a photo of a Circle Butterfly Easel Card that she had made.  I got her permission to publish it on my blog but I've been in 'Fiji Time' for a while now and am just slowly starting to think about paper craft once again! It was so nice of Marie to email me this photo.  She took inspiration from one of the cards that I had made. You can click on the picture below to take you to the original post. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mother's Day

Image
A Card for Mum A huge big Happy Mother's Day to all the mums out there.  I'm looking forward to spending the day with my mum today. As I promised, I'm sharing the third card that a former student of mine, Jessi Rose, made during a day of crafting at my place.  It was lovingly made for her mum for Mother's Day, so I haven't been able to post it on my blog until today.  I'm sure she will love it ...  and ... yes ... Tracey, ... I did use my Portable Studio to take a picture of the card.  :) LOL x Jessi Rose chose to use Pool Party, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip.  What a gorgeous colour combo. Have a great day.

Crafting with Jessi-Rose

Image
I had such a lovely afternoon crafting with an ex-student of mine, Jessi-Rose.  I taught her in grade 5 and 6 and she's now at Uni!  I guess age is no barrier when it comes to a shared love of card making. Here are two of the cards she made today but I can't share the third as that's a special one for Mother's Day.  I bought this stamped image only yesterday.  It is from the company, Technique Tuesday ( © 2011) .   The sentiment is a retired SU one. Colours used - Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla and Soft Suede. Of course Jessi-Rose couldn't spend an afternoon with me without trying out my butterfly easel card.  It looks striking in black and white.  She is one talented young lady! Thanks for stopping by.  Happy crafting.
