Awesomely Artistic Slider Card

Image
Just in case you hadn't noticed, The Gold Trend is very popular in paper craft at the moment and Just Us Girls' Challenge this week is to " incorporate gold somewhere on your card and/or project ".  I jumped right in as I have wanted to see what Gold Glitter mixed with Crystal Effects would look like painted onto an image with a fine brush (I have done this technique with Dazzling Diamond s before). All I can say is, I love the way it turned out; so sparkly!    As you can see this is a slider card and the base was made at the Interactive Card Class I went to last week that two of my down line ran.  Jo demonstrated this technique and would you believe that this is the first time I have made a card like this!  Crazy, right? ... considering it's like an easel card :)  I didn't stay late to finish it as I wanted to use a more girly stamp set and make a thank you card for a friend; I was itching to ink up Awesomely Artistic after seeing so many be...

Boys Will Be Boys - Interactive Card Class

Image
What a treat! ... I attended an Interactive Card Class last night that two of my 'down-line' organised.  For our first card we did some stamping with an acrylic block; it's a technique that's been around for awhile but I had never got around to trying it.  You just scribble a variety of different coloured Stampin'  Markers onto a large acrylic block, spritz the block and your card stock with water and stamp.  Very cool!  Thanks De Arn (an idea from Sharnee's card class) for demonstrating this technique.  I'm sure I will be stamping with acrylic blocks more often, as I just love the background that it creates. Secondly, the class was all about interactive cards so we made a spinner card.  Another first for me was having the spinning mechanism positioned vertically.  This made sense seeing we could choose the yo yo or parachute image from the Boys Will Be Boys stamp set.  What a fun card to make!      Down .......

Christmas Workshop Make 'n' Take - Flying Easel Gift Card Holder

Image
Hi.  This is the card that I finally decided on for my Christmas Workshop Make 'n' Take .      Just for that little something extra, I decided to add an additional label to form a pocket, so the card becomes a gift card holder as well. Here's some snap shots of the lovely ladies that came along last night.  They were pretty pleased with the way their cards turned out.   Thanks for stopping by,

Thinlits Card Dies are Flippin' Awesome!

Image
On Friday night I helped a friend re-launch her SU Business and because the new Thinlits Card Dies were only released last week, I thought it would be great to demo them for the Make 'n' Take . Now ... last week was no ordinary week for me.  To cut a long story short it was EPIC in more ways than one and the whole Make 'n' Take inspiration thing just wasn't happening! In desperation (the night before the workshop) I went to Pinterest and came across a wonderful tutorial via You Tube called, How to Create Awesome Cards with the Card Thinlits Dies by Linda Higgins , a fellow Aussie Demonstrator! All I can say is that Linda saved the day!  Make sure you check out her tutorial as it explains how you can get the extra flap thingy on the right hand side of the card. This card became the actual Make 'n' Take -  Label Card Thinlits Die (Pool Party, Basic Black Card Stock, Modern Medley DSP with a Butterfly from Papillon Potpourri, Pool Party S...
