Just Add Ink Challenge #37 - Colour

Image
Just Add Ink Challenge #37 There's a colour challenge on this week at Just Add Ink. I used a brand new set called 'Funky Four' because I thought it really suited the colour palette. The Colours for this Week's Challenge I must admit that I hadn't stamped for the entire month of September and the combination of a loss of mojo, wondering which new stamp set I was going to use, a heap of housework and just plain tiredness from catching up with some sleep after the trip home from Bali (a long delayed flight thanks to Jetstar) was enough to just about 'do my head in with this challenge'! After nearly 3 hours this is what I came up with, not to mention all the previous hours trying to think out a plan of attack!~ Well, I finally came up with something after several bits 'n' bobs going in the bin! Hope you like! Project Recipe: Stamp Sets: Funky Four, Hello Again, Woodgrain Ink: All the challenge colours with either Classic Stampin' Pads or Stam...

Just Add Sympathy

Image
Just Add Ink Challenge #35 - Just Add Sympathy This week at Just Add Ink , the challenge is to make a Sympathy Card/Project. It's certainly not a 'fun' thing to do but the satisfaction comes from being able to pass on a little comfort to someone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. I must admit I never usually make Sympathy Cards in advance as I usually make one especially for the recipient. However, I rose to the challenge in more ways than one. The other challenge for me involved using the brayer - a little piece of equipment that hadn't seen daylight for awhile. However, I was highly motivated after Rochelle's Workshop Wow to brayer the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder and run it through the Big shot for a fabulous background effect. I used Night of Navy Ink on Sahara Sand Cardstock. Then I took Delys' advice on her tutorial and started brayering the background for the stamped image, starting on the scratch paper - good tip! It wasn't the great...

A Little Bit of Metal for The Shabby Tea Room

Image
A Little Bit of Metal Photo Inspiration from The Shabby Tea Room The latest challenge at The Shabby Tea Room is to add a little bit of metal and to use the gorgeous bracelet (pictured above) for inspiration. I used the Silver Jumbo Brads and Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelet for the 'metal' and picked out the colours of Baja Breeze and Rich Razzleberry to match the bracelet. Project Recipe: Stamp Sets: Artisitic Etchings, Tiny Tags Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Basic Black, Chocolate Chip Marker Card Stock: Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry, Baja Breeze, Naturals Ivory, Basic Black Accessories: Newsprint DSP, Lots of Tags Die, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, White Gel Pen, Distressing Tool from the Cutter Kit, Stamping Sponges, Color Spritzer Tool, Silver Jumbo Brads, Antique Brass Eyelet, Crop-a-dile, Jewelry Tag Punch, Linen Thread, 1.6 cm Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon, 6.4 mm Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals PS: Thanks once again to the Shabb...

Just Add Ink Challenge # 31 - Colour

Image
There's a colour challenge at Just Add Ink this week and I couldn't resist playing with my new pre-order goodies. The set I have used is called Artistic Etchings and will be available to purchase from the new Australian Idea Book and Catalogue from the 1st of September. Vintage Top Note Box I used the collage technique to stamp the top of the box using all the challenge colours (Sahara Sand for Kraft). I thought the Real Red was a bit bright for the Vintage look so stamped all the red images on scratch paper before stamping onto the card stock. I added a Square Fire Rhinestone Brad to the front of the box to make it look like a little drawer handle. Here's the Colour Combo for this Week's Challenge - # 31 Take a peek at what's inside. They're my favourite coffee bags. It's a pity that they're not French Expresso Style! There's a 'Style Watch' in the new catty called Vintage Suite which highlights "aged, typographical art, weathere...

Paper Roses Inspired by Tania

Image
A Rose in Rich Razzleberry The First Project at Stamp Class A few weeks back, Tania made a card like this for her Just Add Ink Design Team Submission for a Sketch Challenge. Well ... I totally fell in love with every square centimetre of it, particularly the beautiful paper rose. I was pretty excited to see that her contribution the other night at Stamp Class was a tutorial on how to make one of our own!! Can you hear my squeals of delight?? I love the layout and the colour combo and can't wait to try it out in other colours too! Oh! and looky below at the gorgeous card I received in the mail from Tania last week. I think all the JAI girls got spoilt. Thanks, buddy ... I'll treasure it! Gasp! I'm going to miss Pale Plum!!

FTL #100 at Clean and Simple Stamping

Image
Crochet and Fine Lace Here's another card using the FTL sketch #100 from Clean and Simple Stamping . It uses the retired background stamp, Fine Lace , which I won't part with because it was one of my faves. Speaking of favourites, Close to Cocoa is about to retire when the Colour Renovation begins with the release of our new Catalogue in September :( I have teamed it up with another favourite colour, Baja Breeze, which thankfully is staying! The gorgeous crocheted flower was made by my friend, Andrea. Big hugs being sent her way. I need another lesson soon because when I got all my crochet gear out to make a flower, I'd completely forgotten what to do! So when her little girl is on the road to recovery I'll have to get a refresher course. FTL Sketch #100 Thanks for stopping by,

Just Add Ink Challenge #27 - Sketch

Image
Retro Fresh Hi there! There's a sketch challenge on at Just Add Ink this week and not only do I consider sketch challenges to be my all-time favourite, but the sketch itself is awesome. I know I'll be using it again and again!!! I had so many ideas floating around in my head for this sketch that it was hard to make a choice. In the end I chose to highlight the 'Cheep Talk' stamp set as it is on special this month with the Two-Step Stamping Promotion . It has been reduced from $47.95 down to $38.36 . What a bargain and what a cute set! I must admit I had to blow the dust off it as I hadn't used Cheep Talk for ages and now that I've re-discovered its cute factor, I'll be bringing it out again real soon. Can you guess which pages of the Idea Book and Catalogue (2009-2010) that I used for inspiration? I purposefully made a Thank You Card to give to a dear friend who cooked our family a yummy meal last week and brought it round. She knew that I hadn...

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #32 with some Embossing for Just Add Ink #26

Image
Vintage Baroque I made this card for Keesh's colour challenge and it has been ages since I've joined in. The challenge at Just Add Ink #26 is to do some embossing so I've combined the two. This week is my 'off' week as a DT Member for JAI so I thought I'd play along for fun. It took my mind off just how lousy I'm feeling but I'm not looking forward to cleaning up my craft area!! I've been MIA due to a nasty 'lung infection' and our main computer needed fixing. This card was also made for a good friend of mine who is going through a tough time at the moment. I hope she likes it when it arrives in the mail. She loves embossing on cards!!! Hi, T. I used the emerging colour/emboss resist technique by stamping the flowers from 'Vintage Vogue' in So Saffron and Regal Rose, then stamping the Baroque Background stamp with Versa Mark and embossing with clear embossing powder. Lastly, I brayered Chocolate Chip ink over the top and buffe...

Just Add Ink Challenge # 25

Image
Too Cute to Handle There's a colour challenge on this week at Just Add Ink . I found the colour combo a little tricky and then re-read my notebook to discover that it was one of my suggestions! Ooops! No-one to blame but myself! This week's Colour Combo The card evolved from me wanting to use the cute Rose Red coloured Designer Hardware from the 'Hooray' collection (Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue) as a starting point! The sentiment then led me to use the little tea cup stamp called, 'Share a Cup'. It's one of my favourite stamps and so versatile! ... and so the design 'blossomed' from there. The little flowers coming from the cup are attached to small lengths of florist wire. Project Recipe: Stamp Sets: One of a Kind, Share a Cup Ink: Rose Red, Soft Suede, Elegant Eggplant Cardstock: RR, SS, EE and Very Vanilla Accessories: 1/2" SS Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, Sizzlits Little Leaves Die, 5-Petal Flower and Boho Blossoms Punches, ...

A Shabby Sweet Sunday

Image
Dream I made this card so I could send big hugs and congratulations to Lisi, who has recently opened her own shop, Miss Vintage , in Perth, Tasmania. I did a bit of embossing on the card so I could enter it in the latest challenge at the Shabby Tea Room (Let's Make an Impression) and I have used the sketch from this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #76 . Project Recipe Stampin' Up! Supplies: Frames with a Flourish Stamp Set, Parisian Breeze DSP, Baja Breeze Cardstock, Classic Black and Soft Suede Ink, Distressing Tool, Dimensionals, Hemp Twine, Sizzlits Lots of Tags Die, Stamping Sponge, Sanding Block Non SU Supplies: CB Embossing Folder, Nostalgia Core'dinating Card Stock, Flowers and Lace from my stash, Eiffel Tower Stamp from 'Hot off the Press' Inc. PS: Thanks to the Shabby Tea Room for giving me an Honourable Mention for this card! Much appreciated! Thanks for stopping by,

Just Add Ink Challenge # 24 - I'm Back!

Image
Vintage Leaves There's a sketch challenge on this week at Just Add Ink and boy did it give me 'grief' to begin with because of its simplicity. So this was my game plan - I really wanted to ink up the Medallion stamp again and get out the Little Leaves die and so it kind of went from there. I thought I'd combine my two favourite Stampin' Up! colours, Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip ... you know the type of colours I'm referring to?? ... the ones that, "If you could only take two coloured ink pads to a deserted island, which ones would you take?" sort of colours! Then I wanted to use a technique I hadn't done for a while. There's some kissing, sponging and distressing involved and as I told the girls at JAI, that sounds like one very bad romance novel! In the end I was pretty relieved my mojo had decided to return after a month's break and I finally felt like I was back into the 'swing of things'. This Week's Sketch at Just Add ...
