Scalloped Envy There's a colour challenge on at Just Add Ink and I decided to make a little scalloped pocket to hold a gift card inside! After all things masculine last week, I went with something very pretty and feminine for this round! The template that I used is a Freebie from Creations by AR , called Scalloped Envy . Razzle Dazzle with Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip Inspired by Nature and Pocket Silhouettes using Baja Breeze and Close to Cocoa I don't usually do quick and easy cards but decided to clear away my craft desk by using up some cardstock that had already been cut. I didn't even use a Stamp-a-ma-jig! These cards use the FTL #100 again!! I enjoy using that sketch. While checking out the new catty, I was happy to see that Razzle Dazzle will be making a comeback, so was eager to get the dust off that stamp and have a play! Most cards I do never take less than an hour to make, so these ones are not really to my liking but I had fun anyway! While I was in the mood yesterday to use up a few pre-cut bits and pieces I made a few Haute Tote Bags too but will post those when I purchase some more jewellery clips to attach the gift cards on the side. Vintage Baroque I made this card for Keesh's colour challenge and it has been ages since I've joined in. The challenge at Just Add Ink #26 is to do some embossing so I've combined the two. This week is my 'off' week as a DT Member for JAI so I thought I'd play along for fun. It took my mind off just how lousy I'm feeling but I'm not looking forward to cleaning up my craft area!! I've been MIA due to a nasty 'lung infection' and our main computer needed fixing. This card was also made for a good friend of mine who is going through a tough time at the moment. Vintage Leaves There's a sketch challenge on this week at Just Add Ink and boy did it give me 'grief' to begin with because of its simplicity. So this was my game plan - I really wanted to ink up the Medallion stamp again and get out the Little Leaves die and so it kind of went from there. I thought I'd combine my two favourite Stampin' Up! colours, Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip ... you know the type of colours I'm referring to?? ... the ones that, "If you could only take two coloured ink pads to a deserted island, which ones would you take?" sort of colours! Then I wanted to use a technique I hadn't done for a while. There's some kissing, sponging and distressing involved and as I told the girls at JAI, that sounds like one very bad romance novel! Paper Beads and Faux Silk Asian Artistry This week at Just Add Ink we have a challenge with a difference. It takes on the form of a Blog Hop. You will need to visit all the Design Team Member's Blogs and check out all the wonderful tutorials the girls have put together to highlight a certain technique. Decide on which technique you'd like to try and make a card, scrapbook layout or 3D item etc. and enter it in this week's challenge on the Just Add Ink Blog. I have put together a very simple tutorial to show you how to make Paper Beads and Faux Silk . Paper Beads Step 1 - Using your paper cutter, cut out some long triangular strips of paper the length of your chosen DSP. Mine have been cut about 1.5 centimetres at the widest point. I only needed 3 beads but I cut an extra one in case I 'muffed' up. Step 2 - Starting at the wide end, roll up the strip of paper applying glue as you roll. Vintage Girl This is my Vintage Theme inspired 'scrapbook' page made using a chipboard picture frame. It will be a present for Lisi when she opens her own shop called, 'Miss Vintage' in Perth, Tasmania, very soon! The smaller crocheted flowers are from the retired SU Summer Mini Catalogue, but the large crocheted one was made especially for this project by my very talented friend, Andrea H (All of them, plus the twill tape was dyed with coffee). The rose was made by twisting twill tape onto cardstock secured by sticky strip. Amanda, at Just Add Ink, has a great tutorial on how to make these. The hat pin and pearls are from the SU Pretties' Kit. The ruffled ribbon is made from SU twill tape and gathered on the sewing machine. Scallop Circle Upsy Daisy Card If you haven't already heard, there's a new mini catalogue out this month and it has some fantastic new products!!! Last weekend, I started to play around with the new Scallop Circle Die, new Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper and the new colour, Rich Razzleberry. I'm in love! I'm fine tuning some ideas for SWAPS so they will be a bit quicker to make using my brand new Big Shot Machine! This card is not one of them but a first attempt! Vintage Lace When I saw the colour combo for the Inkspirations' Challenge , I couldn't wait to go in my stamp room and see what I could come up with! I LOVE this week's palette. I decided on a bit of a Vintage theme as I've had this idea in my head ever since I recently acquired the Baroque Background Stamp. I love the collage technique and have stamped three 'layers' to form the background. The bonus was that I got to use three stamps that hadn't seen ink!! A CASE from the Impressions Magazine What do you do when you have a workshop, work 4 days a week, need to make a birthday card, have a submission to make as a DT Member for Just Add Ink , have SWAPS to make for Sydney, the housework to do, feed the family etc. etc. ? The answer is you CASE - Copy and share everything! I love the SU Impression's Magazine that arrives once a month in the mail. It has some wonderful ideas for Make 'n' Takes and demos. I have another 3 cards that I'd love to CASE and share with you later. It isn't exactly the same as the lovely sample in the magazine as I didn't have all the stamp sets or rub-ons and I added a little dragonfly to give it more dimension. The make 'n' take that we did last night used Very Vanilla Cardstock, Tangerine Tango, paper piercing and some Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon instead of the clip. A Kind Word It's time for another challenge at Just Add Ink . This week it's all about colour. Confession time! I struggled with the colour combo as I'm so not into Bold Brights but challenges are meant to challenge!! This one certainly pushed me way beyond my comfort zone and then some.
