Ribbon Scraps

Image
Ribbon Scraps with Some Extra Detail Well, what a difference some faux stitching and buttons make, not to mention a better spot to photograph the cards!!! You'll see what I'm rambling on about when you read the original post below - Using up My Ribbon Scraps - 1 Inspiration for these cards came from K. Werner . This lady is so talented and I love browsing through her blog. She has heaps of inspirational videos and Kristina loves using Kraft (soon to be called Crumb Cake) cardstock so of course I love her stuff! I used two CB dies to cut the heart and butterfly, SU ribbon scraps, Kraft cardstock, Corner Rounder Punch and Sticky Strip. The ink is Chocolate Chip and I used the new L1 Hostess Set, Picture This for the first design and the sentiment from Butterfly Prints for the second. Using Up My Ribbon Scraps - 2 Thanks for taking a peek. I was a little scared to tackle the white faux stitching but on reflection, I think I'll give it a go! *************************...

Just Us Girls - Challenge #12

Image
Challenge Colors - Raspberry, Green, Kraft & Red This is my first, Just Us Girls' Challenge . I have been following their site for a little while now and thought I'd give this one a go! I've set myself a goal to have a go at all the challenges I follow and display in my side bar this week! This one was a little tricky with the different combination of colors. My daughter said, when I showed her the card, "That's a bit random, mum". Sigh! ... so true as this one was just not my style. However, the whole idea of challenges is to CHALLENGE! JUGS #12 Here's What I Used: Stamp Sets: Tree Trimmings, Cute & Curly Ink: Old Olive, Real Red, Rose Red Card: Kraft, Whisper White, Shimmer Red (non-SU) Accessories: Holiday Treasures DSP, Old Olive 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Hat pin from Pretties Kit, Stampin' Dimensionals, Non-SU: Snowflake embossing folder, Christmas beads and Kraft colored buttons TFL, Bron

Christmas Goodie Bags

Image
Gift Tote I put together some little gift bags for a fundraising 'Car Boot Sale' that was held this morning. We all ended up sheltered in 'The Ark' safe and sound away from the pouring rain and thunder! Wow! Did the weather play up or what? Not to worry, as it was rather pleasant inside the church building and I got to talk to a few lovely ladies that enjoyed card making too. In this example I have turned a little note tote box into a little chocolate holder. I am still wondering how I can live without the Parisian Breeze DSP after December 1st clicks around. Project Recipe for Gift Tote - Stamp: Cute and Curly Cardstock: Whisper White and Parisian Breeze DSP Ink: Chocolate Chip Accessories: Baja Breeze DS Grosgrain Ribbon, Ribbon Originals - Valet, Medium Flat Cellophane Bags, Curly Label Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals and Sticky Strip for the best double sided adhesive ever! Top Note Christmas Gift Bags These little gift packs are quick and easy. The T...

Makeesha's Sketch Challenge - #16

Hoot-Hoot Hooray! It has been a lot of fun figuring out what to do with this new sketch challenge . When I saw Makeesha's gorgeous example to go with the challenge, I was so keen to get out my new butterfly stamps and punch (available in the Summer Mini from Dec. 1st). Happy Birthday to You .. this Card is made from Elephant Poo !

Image
Thai Poo I had so much fun making this card (After a spot of Report writing first, as one has to get their priorities right!). The lovely Jim (our Business Manager at work) and his daughter, Victoria, have recently come back from a Mission's trip to Thailand. They know that I LOVE to make cards and brought me back two rolls of handmade paper made from ... elephant poo! How awesome! I couldn't wait to make something with it. There will be more creations to follow, as I can guarantee they will be a hit in the School Office! Here's the Project Recipe - Stamps: Wild About You, Owl Together Now, Birthday Wish Ink: Basic Gray, Ruby Red, Basic Black Cardstock: Going Gray (textured), Whisper White and Red Elephant Poo Paper! Accessories: Clips Assortment, Haiku DSP, 1 3/4" and Wide Oval Punches, Stamping Sponges, Distressing Tool from Cutter Kit, Aqua Painter, Stampin' Dimensionals Hope this brought a little smile :) Bronwyn

Cards for Christmas - # 3 & 4

Image
Here's number 3 and 4 in a series of 5, that we'll be making at my Christmas Card Making Nights. The first one is THIS Friday. # 4 - Ski Slope Tree Trimmings I had resisted buying the Ski Slope DSP from the Spring Mini until I saw so many beautiful Christmas cards made from it. You have only until the end of November to order from the range, so if you're interested in purchasing the DSP or any of the stamp sets and accessories, let me know before we have to say goodbye to Spring and hello to Summer! I deliberated over this layout for ages (still not 100% happy), but love the fresh, vibrant colour mix of Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Really Red and Baja Breeze. Tree Trimmings got inked up for the first time, with me, and I just think the ornaments are among the nicest 'Christmasy' stamps I've seen! Here's the Project Recipe - Stamp Sets: Tree Trimmings (Spring Mini) and Short & Sweet Cardstock: Chocolate Chip (plain and textured), Old Olive, Real Red...

Tri-Shutter Card

Image
Well, here it is at last! This is the card I've been working on since last Sunday. It's one of my entries for the Launceston Show. Some of my students prompted me to enter some craft work seeing I was encouraging them to do so. I regret the time it took (housework suffered and hubby feels a little neglected) but I'm really pleased with the result. It's the first tri-shutter card I have made. Thought I might prepare this technique for one of my Christmas Stamping Fun Nights. I'll let you know soon when I'll be able to host those. Quite a few people have said they'd like to come along to the next one, so keep watching this blog for the details. This is what the card looks like when it's closed. You can also see a glimpse of the beautiful Tamar Valley in the background. Please note the clear, sunny sky. It makes a change from the 'Days of Noah' that we have experienced for weeks on end. I guess the drought is officially over? Here's t...

Spring Mini Springboard

Image
This is the card that I made for Marelle Taylor's August Challenge. The idea was to "use the Spring Mini Catalogue as a springboard for inspiration". Click on the heading as it is linked to Marelle's blog. You can read about the challenge in more detail and view her very cute card she made which inspired me to join in the fun! I decided to use the layout found on page 14 - 'For You Pillow Box' (Just Beachy stamp set) and the colours were inspired by the Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper featured on page 9. To really highlight the gorgeous new Spring Mini Catalogue, I also used the 'Great Friend' stamp set (page 5), Scallop Oval Punch (page 7), Flower Assortment Designer Brads (page 12) and of course a strip of the lovely DSP as already mentioned. It was not difficult to be inspired as I love everything about the new mini 'catty'. I used the rock 'n' roll technique when I stamped the butterfly and aren't the flower brad...

For the Blokes

Image
I'm so excited about this card as I had more fun making it than a 'girly' one for a change. This is all thanks to SU for putting out some brand new brads to help jazz things up a tad for those hard to do masculine cards. Hope Brett likes it (and he doesn't read my blog before Father's Day). Project Recipe: Stamps: Sense of Time and Oval All Paper: Baja Breeze and Kraft Ink: Choc Chip Accessories: Vintage Brads, Build-A-Brad - Antique Brass, 5/16"Jumbo Brads - Neutral Assortment, Parisian Breeze Specialty DSP, 1" DS Grosgrain Ribbon - Choc Chip, Large Oval Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals Techniques: Sponging and Build-A-Brad This is the card that the children in my class will be making for Father's Day this week. It will be such a chore to do card making at school (Not!). They love using the Cuttlebug and this is one of my new embossing folders. Fun times ahead! Project Recipe: Stamps: Brushstroke Alphabet (Retired SU) Pape...

Of course I had to use my new stamp set, Great Friend! The new Parisian Breeze specialty Designer Series Paper is perfect for such a project as it is printed on textured, cover weight card stock.
