K. Werner Color Inspiration Challenge #57

Colorful Cupcake Gift Box

I enjoyed make a cupcake for the JUGs 3D challenge a couple of weeks back and thought that I would make another one especially for K. Werner's Color Challenge. The colors that she chose are certainly fun, bright and Summery, a bit like our Aussie weather at the moment! I'll be jumping in the pool when I finish writing this post!

It was great to see that she had posted a 'one off' Color Challenge. I had only started the world of blogging, when the weekly challenges stopped. I did, however, on many occasions, enjoy browsing at some of the different and talented entries.

So ... Yay! I now have an opportunity to participate in one too! Hope you like what I created. The template was purchased from the Digichick Boutique.

I used the Stampin' Up! Color Range of Riding Hood Red, Cameo Coral, Baja Breeze, More Mustard, So Saffron and Whisper White.

I placed some paper and felt flowers at the top of the cupcake and decorated it with faux sparkly frosting. A few people have asked me how to do this, but some things have to stay a surprise for my upcoming workshops, as many of my customers read this blog. I will post the 'recipe' a bit later on. It was a technique given to the SU Demonstrators in their latest 'Impression's Magazine'.

I used Bella Rose DSP to decorate the edges of the cupcake with an Eyelet Border Punch. From this angle you can see the back layers of the butterfly. It was made from 3 DSPs - Walk in the Park, Bella Rose and Haiku, along with More Mustard cardstock and Vellum embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

I popped the butterfly onto a hat pin, along with some white pearls, clear round beads and a clear tear drop from the Pretties Kit. Lastly, it was finished off with an assortment of ribbons to match the colors in the challenge.

Here's the Finer Details -
Cardstock: Whisper White, More Mustard
Accessories:
Punches - Eyelet Border, Boho Blossoms, 5-Petal Flower, Butterfly
Ribbon - Baja Breeze from Valet Ribbon Originals, So Saffron from Ribbon Bundle Special, Riding Hood Red Taffeta
DSPs - Walk in the Park, Haiku, Bella Rose
Other: Vellum, Hat Pin and beads from the Pretties Kit, Soft Subtle Brads, Dazzling Diamonds, Flower Fusion Too. Non SU - Cupcake template and Swiss Dots embossing folder

I really enjoyed participating in this challenge. Thanks, Kristina, for providing the 'Challenge Junkies' with another one of your color combinations!

Until, next time ... happy Web browsing,
Bronwyn X
