Christmas Workshop

Last night I took a workshop for a lovely bunch of enthusiastic ladies. The Hostess wanted a Christmas theme so I took the opportunity to promote the Welcome Christmas Bundle that is on offer in SU's latest Dressing Up Christmas Promotion. Here's some samples from the evening.

The Hostess Gift - a Box in a Bag
full of Yummy Christmas Chocolates

It's been a couple of years since I've made one of these gift bags. They're so easy to make. You can find the tutorial in the Resources Section on Splitcoast Stampers.

I used the Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP that I was able to purchase in the Welcome Christmas Bundle and also received the featured ribbon for FREE. I love this DSP as there are two single sided flocked designs as well as the double sided patterns.

The poinsettia is made from the 5-Petal Flower Punch and was a great idea I picked up from Kathy Tanner at Stamping Still. Thanks for the inspiration, Kathy. It was a quick little demo I did to start off the evening.

Project Recipe for Box in a Bag -
Stamp Set: Perfect Punches
Ink: Real Red
Card Stock: Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White
Accessories: Scallop Circle, Round Tab, 5-Petal and Scallop Trim Border Punches, Crop-a-dile, Gold Brads, Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP, Mistletoe Ribbon Originals

Dasher - Stamping with Shimmer Paint

The second quick demo was stamping with Shimmer Paint. This was a great little technique that was demonstrated at the Launceston Regionals. I mixed a bit of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and a drop of Soft Suede Ink Refill and applied it to the Dasher stamp using a sponge dauber.

For some more great ideas on how to use Shimmer Paint you can join up to access a couple of tutorials by Nicole Derendorf on the We Stamp for Lara Site, as well as many more by other talented SU Demonstrators (Button on my side bar).

The general layout was a CASE taken from Kate Tobeck's 'Just Add Christmas' card for last week's challenge at Just Add Ink. I loved the simplicity of the design! Thanks for the inspiration, Kate.

Project Recipe for Dasher -
Stamp Sets: Dasher, Snow Swirled
Ink: Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, Soft Suede Ink Refill, Cherry Cobbler
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Early Expresso, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Sponge Dauber, Basic Rhinestones, Antique Brad, Early Expresso Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot

The Make 'n' Take - Welcome Christmas

For the Make 'n' Take I wanted to demonstrate something that was easy but I also wanted to introduce the guests to a few techniques and allow them time to 'play' with some 'tools'. It proved to be a worthwhile exercise.

Project Recipe for the Make 'n' Take -
Stamp Set: Welcome Christmas
Ink: Soft Suede, Real Red
Card Stock: Confetti Cream, Real Red
Accessories: Paper Piercing Tool, Mat and Template, Distressing Tool from Cutter Kit, Stamping Sponge, Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Real Red 3/4" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon

I was in such a rush to get ready for last night and all the batteries for my camera needed recharging, so my DD offered to take the photos of all the samples with her 'birthday' camera. Thanks, Laura! You're a gem.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
