Just Add Christmas

Welcome Christmas Snow Globe

This week's challenge at Just Add Ink is to JUST ADD CHRISTMAS. When I spotted these Snow Globes while I was out shopping with my mum (in Spotlight), I completely changed my plans about my submission and went with this!

I know we don't have sleds and snow at Christmas time in Australia but a lot of our traditions come from the North and I love the traditional style Christmas decorations and cards.

Reverse Side

For this side of the Snow Globe, I scrunched up some plastic wrap and used it to apply some Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint to the background (on Whisper White Card Stock), then stamped the silhouette image from Welcome Christmas with Black Staz-On. The Holly Wreath stamp from the set was then stamped on in sections across the top using Old Olive Ink and lastly the berries were coloured in with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker.

It was very difficult to shake up the globe and then quickly get a decent photo for each side. Apologies for the two lights that appear from my portable photo studio as there wasn't any time for me this week to take photographs in the daylight hours!

For the other side of the Snow Globe, I stamped the image from Lovely as a Tree onto two post-it-notes and cut out the shape of the tree line. I then brayered the sky using Baja Breeze Ink and left a 'snow line' using the masking technique. I stamped both images using Black Staz-On. Lastly, I applied some 2-Way Glue and sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds around the tree mounds.

I hope I've inspired you to make one of your own!

Thanks for taking a peek,
