Something New for JAI #139 and DD #24

Image
I am preparing for a craft night at my place tomorrow as some ladies from church are coming around to make something for Operation Christmas Child.   I thought a little post-it-note holder would be a great gift to pop into each box.  So tonight I did a test run using the theme challenge from Just Add Ink which is to Just Add Something New and the gorgeous colour combo from Dynamic Duos #24.    JAI #139 and DD #24 - Little Friends The newest purchase for me has been this cute set from SU called, Little Friends .  I coloured the stamped image using Pool Party, Soft Suede and Blush Blossom Stampin' Write Markers and an Aqua Painter.    I love the colour duo for this week. For this sample, I have turned the post-it note holder so the pen is at the top and attached 3 magnetic strips of tape to the back so it can stick to a fridge or magnetic white board. There are a few great tutorials out there for post-it-note holders but I rea...

A Leafy Easel for CASology #14

Image
Leafy Easel I've been itching to get back into my craft room and actually make something after such a long break!   The CASology Challenges have always caught my attention but it has taken until Week 14 to finally get around to entering (sorry, Melissa).  I love the idea of a cue card with one word as the inspiration and this week the word is LEAF .   My leafy easel card ticks all the boxes for the challenge criteria.  However, my take on the CAS style is a little 'out of the box' as it is the background that actually provides the necessary 'white space'.  Anyway, technicalities aside ... I finally made something and that makes me happy!  :)

Life is Good

Image
Life Is Good Here's one last card to share for now ...  until my craft room is clean and tidy again! I cut a round card from a pre-cut, square shaped card using the Scallop Circle Die from SU!  The gorgeous stamp is from Technique Tuesday (Life is Good) and has been dry embossed (Square Lattice) for added texture.  A little black and white gingham ribbon was tied around the scored side to finish it off. All I can say is ... life is certainly good at the moment :)

Bags for Niche

Image
Bags from 6x6 DSP Here's a selection of some of the cute hand bags that I made for The Niche Market in August.  They were made from a pad of 6x6 DSP using the 2010/2011 SU In Colours.   I've made a few of these in the past but just in-case you haven't seen the instructions, here's a link to the tutorial.  They make great gift card, mini chocolate or lip gloss holders. .......................................................................................... I have a confession to make ... none of my recent posts have shown anything 'new' as I haven't done any paper craft projects since August!  After doing a demo at Regal Press and making stuff for the Niche Market, my craft room was literally trashed!  I spent a few hours in there yesterday and am beginning to see some clear spaces again.  I hope to have it spick and span so I can get back in there and enjoy using some new goodies that I recently purchased (just have to find...

Lovin' Washi Tape

Image
Doily Butterfly I love the versatility of 'Washi' tape or masking tape for card making.  This card uses one of the gorgeous butterfly stamps in SU's Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set with matching butterfly punch, a paper doily and some strips of tape. For these 'teen rock' birthday cards, I used a strip of musical masking tape as a 'banner' for the stamped elements. Just to let you know, my good friend, Natalie , has a selection of my cards for sale at   A Beam of Beauty on High , 34 High Street, Launceston, TAS. Thanks for stopping by,

Cards of Pinterest

Image
Did any one else spend countless hours pouring through your mother's magazines, Woman's Weekly, New Idea etc and cutting out all the really cool pics and gluing them into a scrap book?  That was a favourite past time of mine way back in the 60's and 70's.  Fast forward forty years and things haven't really changed that much.  I'm still collecting pics for inspiration but it's a lot less messy without the scissors and glue thanks to the wonderful world wide web and a great site called Pinterest. I often get inspiration from other card makers, but rarely CASE.  However, the following cards are pretty much a copy of someone else's designs which I had 'pinned' on my Pinterest Boards .  There's some slight variations but why mess with perfection? Click on the links below to take you to the original cards. http://heythererosigrl.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/just-three-please.html http://stampandscrapwithmaureen.blogspot.com.au/2012/...

Birthday Cards

Image
Just thought I'd use this post to say a huge big thank you to everyone that sent me a birthday card, greeting, pressie etc.  I certainly appreciated all the lovely cards that I received.   As this blog is mostly dedicated to hand made cards, I've decided to share some that were made by friends who share my passion for paper craft and stamping.  Most of these girls are from Just Add Ink and you can check out the talent over at their challenge blog.   A month has flown by already but if you check out my September posts you will understand why it has taken me so long to get around to sharing these beautiful cards.  I'm still feeling quite relaxed and operating in 'Fiji Time'. So ... the big ... 5 0 has come and gone.  Hopefully, by the time I turn 60, I'll be - retired ... or re-fired as they say a grandma a seasoned traveller an avid crafter with a bit more time on by hands to potter in my craft room :) ...

Dynamic Duos #22

Image
After a lovely break, I finally have a couple of cards to share and what better way to get me back into 'the swing of things', than to enter them into the latest challenge at Dynamic Duos. Cherry Cobbler is the colour for Week 22 and I have teamed it up with Very Vanilla for both of my cards.   No. 1 - DD #22 - Nestled Bird   No. 2 - DD # 22 - Butterfly Easel Card Thanks so much for stopping by!

Marie's Circle Butterfly Easel Card

Image
A lovely lady by the name of Marie Hopkins emailed me a few weeks back and sent me a photo of a Circle Butterfly Easel Card that she had made.  I got her permission to publish it on my blog but I've been in 'Fiji Time' for a while now and am just slowly starting to think about paper craft once again! It was so nice of Marie to email me this photo.  She took inspiration from one of the cards that I had made. You can click on the picture below to take you to the original post.
