A Card to Welcome Baby Elijah

Welcome Baby Elijah

Congratulations to Andrew and Sarah who welcomed baby Elijah into their family.

Well, I said I'd be back with a card that actually uses more little animals other than the Owl from my Fox and Friends' Stamp Set! I have to admit that it's the first time they have seen ink as the owl image completely took over and it was worth every cent to buy the set just to get my hands on that stamp!

I have also used this week's sketch at Just Add Ink again (not my official submission). I had originally thought of doing the b a b y letters for the four squares and the cute little animals but decided to go with the Retro Fresh look using Cheep Talk instead (See today's earlier post).

I just changed the sketch slightly to have the ribbon going down the side and an added sentiment wasn't necessary as the letters from my NEW TIMELESS TYPE Sizzlit Dies say it all! I love 'em!

A Close Up of My New SU Timeless Type Sizzlit Die Cuts

Thanks to the ladies at my last Stamp Class, I was able to help 'fund' the purchase of these Dies! Did I mention just how much I love them?? They'll be extra handy when I teach Prep/One next year and maybe, just maybe I might eventually get around to doing some Scrapbooking! I've had a 6X6 album for months, just waiting for something to go in it!!

Enough rambling on ... here's the Project Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Fox and Friends, Polka Dot
Cardstock: Kraft, So Saffron, Ruby Red, Sahara Sand, Baja Breeze and Ink to match
Accessories: Sweet Slumber Specialty DSP, Baja Breeze DS Grosgrain Ribbon, Timeless Type Sizzlit Die, Dimensionals, both Square Punches, Baja Breeze Corduroy Button (not currently available)

Thanks for taking a peek,

Oh Bronwyn I love your card. I decided I couldn't live without the alpha dies so ordered a few weeks ago - haven't used 'em yet - so typical!

I have got to get these dies!!!! Gorgeous Baby card. The colours aren't your typical baby colours and that is refreshing to see. The ribbon "frames" the card perfectly.

Doily Cards

I was going a little stir crazy so decided to end my 'blog fasting' today. I lasted 2 weeks which isn't the entire month of March that I was aiming for but I have severely cut down my Internet usage and spent my 'free' time getting my priorities a little more in order :)

Here are some doily cards I wanted to share with you on this beautiful March Long Weekend Holiday. Inspiration came from a very CAS Card I found through Pinterest.

For a Stampin' Up! ® version of this card, please check out what I made using the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set and co-ordinating die.

Pop-Up, Z-Fold, Card in a Box

Hi there.  I've been eying off some great examples of Z-fold, pop-up cards on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to make one.  I tweaked the basic design a little by adding some inserts; the ones you use in card-in-a-box style cards.  So I've called my take on this fun fold, a Pop-Up, Z-Fold, Card in a Box! - It's a crate full of summer strawberries with some home-made strawberry jam sitting on the kitchen bench.

Summer Strawberries
This card was made for a dear friend's birthday and I'm also entering it into two card challenges -
JAI #318 - "Just Add S"

S is for ... strawberries, strawberry jam, straw and summer!
Thanks, JAI!

Here's a bird's eye view before I added all the stamped strawberries etc. -

Thanks for stopping by, Please note that this is the original card for this type of fold. I came up with the idea of adding the card inserts to a z-fold. A v…

Scallop Circle Easel Card Tutorial

Punch Potpourri Scallop Circle Easel Card
in the Dynamic Duo of
Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink

1. Score a piece of card stock through the middle (which is double the length of your die) and line up the folded piece over the Scallop Circle Die (SCD) leaving 4 scallops at the top to form the base of your card.

This is how it should look after you run it through the Big Shot Machine.

2. Score a line through the middle of the top Scallop Circle and fold upwards.

3. Apply Sticky Strip or glue to half the Scallop Circle as shown above.

4. Cut out a single Scallop Circle in the same colour (Melon Mambo) and stick it to the folded half so the top layer sits up like an easel (The top half that is facing will now be a double layer and the bottom half, a single layer of card stock).

5. Cut two circles using the lighter shade (Pretty In Pink) and attach one to the base of the card. Sponge around the edges with the darker shade of ink before gluing the other circle to the front of the card.

6. Stamp…
