Doily Butterfly

Love is Like a Butterfly ...
... a Doily Butterfly

Our Creative Corner has a challenge this week to make a project inspired by the following photo and then share why you love butterflies.

I love butterflies because they symbolise new life and new beginnings.

I am also submitting this as a second entry for the April Challenge at Bizzy Becs which is to add texture to your paper craft project.  The butterfly was die cut from a long rectangular crocheted doily that I picked up at a market for $2.  It has been adhered to the backing card stock with Big Shot Multi-Purpose Adhesive Sheets (Sizzix).  The ruffled ribbon has been woven through the punched edging.

PS:  Thanks, Kim, for including this in your Punch Inspiration for 22/4.

..................................................................

Now, I wish I had come up with this awesome idea to punch both sides of the card front to form three separate panels.  As soon as I saw this idea through Pinterest, I knew it was going to get a high priority rating on my 'To Do List'.  Here's the link to the original card by Mickey Roberts that caused my little creative heart to skip a beat.

12/5/2012 - Here's a link to a great little tutorial that explains the process.

Project Recipe:

Card Stock:  Soft Suede, Very Vanilla

Wow! Love that doily butterfly. I have a heap of doilies I bought at a Vinnies shop - now I know what to do with them!

Absolutely brilliant card Bron! The die cut butterfly alone is such an awesome element, but the extra interest & texture you have added with the panels, ribbon & pearls is fabulous. Bravo! :)
