Just Add Ink Challenge # 24 - I'm Back!

Vintage Leaves

There's a sketch challenge on this week at Just Add Ink and boy did it give me 'grief' to begin with because of its simplicity. So this was my game plan -

I really wanted to ink up the Medallion stamp again and get out the Little Leaves die and so it kind of went from there.

I thought I'd combine my two favourite Stampin' Up! colours, Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip ... you know the type of colours I'm referring to?? ... the ones that, "If you could only take two coloured ink pads to a deserted island, which ones would you take?" sort of colours!

Then I wanted to use a technique I hadn't done for a while. There's some kissing, sponging and distressing involved and as I told the girls at JAI, that sounds like one very bad romance novel!

In the end I was pretty relieved my mojo had decided to return after a month's break and I finally felt like I was back into the 'swing of things'.

This Week's Sketch at Just Add Ink

Why don't you take a peek over at Just Add Ink at the lovely examples the Design Team have come up with for this week. You won't be disappointed and I hope you get time to join in the fun by playing along.

Here's a close up of the Baroque Motifs' stamp 'kissed' onto the Medallion stamp, the sponged leaves and flower detail.

I was having a little play and photographed this card with a different background. The next one really gives it that 'Vintage' look. It's my second last piece of Parisian Breeze and only an extremely special project will ever get me to cut into it!

Project Recipe for Vintage Leaves -

Stamp Sets: Medallion, Baroque Motifs, Fresh Cuts
Ink: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Cardstock: Naturals Ivory, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Little Leaves Die, Stamping Sponge, Felt Fusion Too, Cream Halfback Pearl from the Pretties Kit, Flower Brad (Spring Mini 09), Distressing Tool from Cutter Kit

Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back next Friday with another challenge to share, alongside a few girls who are feeling just plain dizzy with excitment and expectation at recently joining the Just Add Ink Team!

Until then, happy crafting and have a super duper weekend. I'm off to a Women's Retreat at Camp Clayton, with a bunch of fun-loving ladies from our church, so I should be in for a good one!

PS: Just out of interest, if you leave a comment, let me know what two SU Colours you can't live without.

Welcome back, Bron - I've missed you!! This card makes me SWOON; I love everything about it. You have far too much talent for one person!! I couldn't possibly limit my faves to only 2 colours (does Kraft count?), but I have to have reds and browns in the mix. I have some spare Parisian Breeze if you'd like it :)

Hi Bronwyn,

this is very beautiful, love all the layering and distressing you've added. My favoutite SU colours - very hard to limit this to two but Chocolate Chip and Rose Red would be up there for sure!
